Causa: Meet Pai
When a large star breathes her last gasp of fuel, she knows the end is imminent. Death’s warden, gravity, begins forcing the matter to collapse. Unable to bear the shame of falling from stardom, she rallies her particles into a final rebounding shockwave, the last hurrah – a supernova explosion. Momentarily, the lone, dying star shines brighter than a galaxy containing billions, before the inevitable fade to obscurity. Pai’s calm, happy exterior was an unstable equilibrium, equally likely to conceal an implosion of regret with a barrage of wit or a shockwave of anger. Only the supernova gets noticed.
